As part of the asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion\u2019s annu\u00adal call for sub\u00adscrip\u00adtions, as well as when new entrants join the net\u00adwork, mem\u00adbers com\u00adplete a \u201csim\u00adple\u201d ques\u00adtion\u00adnaire includ\u00ading key indi\u00adca\u00adtors : annu\u00adal bud\u00adget, annu\u00adal FTE, type of con\u00adtract (CDI, CCDU, inter\u00admit\u00adtent CDD, etc.), etc., which enable us to mea\u00adsure the char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics and \u201chealth\u201d of the sec\u00adtor and its play\u00aders. This data col\u00adlec\u00adtion incor\u00adpo\u00adrates a \u201cgen\u00adder\u201d com\u00adpo\u00adnent to bet\u00adter ana\u00adlyze the pres\u00adence of women in the sec\u00adtor, the typol\u00ado\u00adgy of posi\u00adtions they hold, etc. This data col\u00adlec\u00adtion enables us to observe the sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion and changes in the socio-eco\u00adnom\u00adic real\u00adi\u00adties of our mem\u00adbers, and there\u00adfore, by extrap\u00ado\u00adla\u00adtion, the health of the world music sec\u00adtor.<\/p>\n\n

Flash study :
2 years after the COVID crisis, a real or supposed recovery ?<\/h2>\n

Through\u00adout 2023, we\u2019ve been able to read and hear that 2022 was the year of the COVID cri\u00adsis, that audi\u00adences were back on track, that indi\u00adca\u00adtors were back in the green, and so on. This diag\u00adno\u00adsis is undoubt\u00aded\u00adly true if we rea\u00adson glob\u00adal\u00adly, but we felt it was impor\u00adtant to take a clos\u00ader look at it in terms of the play\u00aders, sec\u00adtors, etc. <\/p>\n\n

What\u2019s in it for World Music play\u00aders ? Was 2022 as good as the pre-COVID years ? Or do dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adties per\u00adsist ? Have oth\u00ader con\u00adtexts (eco\u00adnom\u00adic cri\u00adsis, eco\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal issues, changes in pro\u00adgram\u00adming teams, etc.) played a role in this recov\u00adery : pos\u00adi\u00adtive or neg\u00ada\u00adtive ? <\/p>\n\n

Faced with these ques\u00adtions, but also in response to numer\u00adous alerts from Zone Franche mem\u00adbers indi\u00adcat\u00ading that dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adties were per\u00adsist\u00ading, in 2023 we launched among net\u00adwork mem\u00adbers the flash study \u201c2 years after the COVID cri\u00adsis, a real or sup\u00adposed recov\u00adery?\u201d. The aim is to use clear, objec\u00adtive indi\u00adca\u00adtors to put 2019 and 2022 into per\u00adspec\u00adtive. The results will be pre\u00adsent\u00aded at a Net\u00adwork Meet\u00ading in 2024. <\/p>\n

Study of the impact of international trade shows on the development of Zone Franche members : observation over several years<\/h2>\n

Par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpa\u00adtion in inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal trade shows is cru\u00adcial for play\u00aders in the world music sec\u00adtor, as it helps to raise the pro\u00adfile and struc\u00adture of the indus\u00adtry. But for many orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions, tak\u00ading part in such events rep\u00adre\u00adsents a real invest\u00adment. It is there\u00adfore essen\u00adtial for Zone Franche to ensure and facil\u00adi\u00adtate the pres\u00adence of the net\u00adwork and its mem\u00adbers on the mar\u00adkets. With this in mind, the asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion also deploys con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adable human and finan\u00adcial resources to enable mem\u00adbers who so wish to take part in trade shows.<\/p>\n\n

Faced with such invest\u00adment, it seems essen\u00adtial to mea\u00adsure the impact of inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal trade shows on the artists\u2019 rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions and Zone Franche mem\u00adber artists who take part in them : this will be the aim of this study con\u00adduct\u00aded over sev\u00ader\u00adal years. Mea\u00adsur\u00ading this impact will make it pos\u00adsi\u00adble, ulti\u00admate\u00adly, to con\u00adsid\u00ader changes or adapt sup\u00adport for pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals who take part in these trade shows ; to pro\u00advide bet\u00adter sup\u00adport for pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals ; to cre\u00adate a dia\u00adlogue with events to improve the expe\u00adri\u00adence of pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals and the impact of their pres\u00adence on their busi\u00adness.<\/p>\n\n

This project is being car\u00adried out in part\u00adner\u00adship with Micha\u00ebl Spanu, a researcher with a degree in soci\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy from the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Man\u00adches\u00adter and a spe\u00adcial\u00adist in the music indus\u00adtry.<\/p>\n\n

Ini\u00adtial\u00adly, the study will focus sole\u00adly on WOMEX, but may also include Babel Music XP at a lat\u00ader date.
