With its network expanding internationally, and particularly in Africa, Zone Franche had the idea of offering a forum for dialogue and cooperation with its members on the African continent.
HOW CAN MUSIC PROFESSIONALS ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT BE STRUCTURED AND COOPERATE ?
Musical creation on the African continent is flourishing. From world-renowned artists to the emerging scene, from learned and traditional aesthetics to contemporary music, artistic vitality takes many forms. While the major groups and the industry have undoubtedly grasped the interest (particularly economic) of this market, as a World Music network, we feel it is important to question the processes involved in the emergence of young artists, the structuring and independence of the music sector, etc.…
How are players of all kinds (artists, producers, managers, labels, trade shows, etc.) structured on the continent ? Are there networks, federations, unions, platforms, etc. that bring professionals together to promote this structuring, its independence, and cooperation between players in the same country or between several countries ? If so, how ? If not, why not ? Are cross-cutting issues (gender equality, ecology) a driving force behind these cooperative ventures ?
Through these exchanges, the aim will be to understand the structuring of relations and cooperation between players on the continent, with its strengths and inspiring experiences to be developed, and its weaknesses to be strengthened.
