UNESCO Free Zone under the 2005 Convention

Zone Franche is one of the international civil society organizations entitled to attend the meetings and sessions of the parties to the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

In this capacity, it participates in the work of the CSO Global Coordination for the 2005 UNESCO Convention, either upstream of the parties’ sessions or the CSO forum, or during, or a posteriori (review). This body is essential because it enables the various civil society organizations to exchange views on the issues at stake, and to coordinate their actions and/or positions during the sessions of the parties to the convention.

The network also participates in the Forum of Civil Society Organizations on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The aim of the Forum is to provide a space for civil society players to work together to identify common actions in line with the main thrusts of the 2005 UNESCO Convention.

In this way, Zone Franche acts at the highest level of international bodies to promote the diversity of cultural expression, particularly music.
