3/ Conference
Thursday 16/10 from 15:30 to 16:30 — FGO Barbara — Panel Room 1
Why, in the current political and economic climate, is it more vital than ever to take people to see and hear World Music ?
The current political and economic context is turning our society upside down. Our great republican principles are being undermined, and in the field of culture this is expressed not only by the questioning of its funding but also, and this is more serious, by the questioning of the values it conveys : freedom of creation and expression, equality of cultures and equality before culture, fraternity between artists and citizens of all origins.
Faced with a Minister of State who claims that “a multicultural society is a society in which tensions explode”, faced with the extreme right that appropriates “indigenous” music, and faced with those who only see music and culture through an economic prism, it is more necessary than ever to raise our voices and act to resist. The first will be to affirm that diversity of cultural expression is an advantage, even a necessity, in this poisoned climate ; that, more than ever, it is important to bring people to see and listen to music from the world, from here and elsewhere.

New music in the municipal elections : what is at stake for the sector ?
On the eve of the 2026 municipal elections, the contemporary music sector wants to make its needs and proposals known to future local decision-makers.
Local authorities play a key role in the organization and funding of local musical structures. However, in recent years there has been an increase in attacks on freedom of creation and expression and a decrease in public funding.
What is at stake in these elections ? On the eve of these elections, how can the contemporary music sector be mobilized and mobilized to ensure a framework conducive to creation, artistic and cultural education and dissemination in all municipalities ? This is what we will discuss with our various speakers.
